Obituary

Angelina Constance (Angela/Angie) LaBarge, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, at the age of 90. Born in Waterbury, CT, on August 16, 1935, Angie was the first of three daughters born to Salvatore and Anna (Scionti) Salonia. The growing family later settled on South Street in Cromwell.Angie graduated from Middletown High School, where she was a majorette - and where she met the love of her life, Eddie, her husband of 71 years.Angie began her career as a volunteer at Middlesex Memorial Hospital and eventually became a secretary at the hospital's Ona M. Wilcox School of Nursing, where she worked until her retirement.Angie and Eddie married in November of 1954 while Eddie was serving in the military. They built a home in Cromwell and raised two children, David and Mark. Angie loved spending time with family and friends; Saturday night dinners with Rosemary, Ricky, Jane, Sal, and Elaine were a cherished tradition.She had a true passion for baking and always made everyone's favorite pies. Her brother in law, Jim Genthe, could always count on finding his favorite chocolate cream pie on the table, along with just about any other pie you could imagine. Italian cookies and her classic Toll House cookies were staples in her kitchen. Angie also loved to browse any store, anytime - shopping was truly a sport for her.Angie is survived by her son Mark and his wife Linda; and by Phyllis LaBarge, the surviving wife of her son David. She is also survived by her sister Carol Genthe. Angie leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Michael, Tyler, Amanda and her husband Tom, Cameron, and Keeley; and her great grandchildren Leah and Kayden. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.Angie was predeceased by her husband Eddie, her son David, and her sister Elaine.The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Apple Healthcare of Cromwell. The entire team was exceptionally attentive to Angie and to our family during her time there, and for that we are eternally grateful.A private funeral service will be held to celebrate Angie's life. The family deeply appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time.
