Ann Loffredo, a special lady, left for heaven to be with our Lord on May 28, 2015, with her loving family by her side. She had fought a long and courageous battle with a rare blood disorder. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-eight years, Victor; her devoted daughter, Dina; her son, Andrew (Andy) and his wife, Theresa; and the joys of her life, her granddaughters, Jillian Paige and Gabrielle Ava. She is also survived by her brother, Attorney Vincent Michael Marino; his wife, Donna; and their daughter, Elizabeth. In addition she is survived by Aunt Connie Vitale, several cousins, and her loving in-laws. She was predeceased by her two sons, Paul Louis and Michael Vincent; her parents, former Police Chief Vincent S. Marino and his wife, Anna (Schultz); and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Ann--"Loolie" to her family--loved celebrating birthdays and the holidays. She was an avid baker and a great cook, who also enjoyed working in her flower gardens, restoring antiques and old furniture, and doing arts and crafts. Generous with her time, she made sure that those who were alone and in need were fed and supported. She was an active communicant at St. Pius X Church, where she served on the Share Committee. As her children grew up, she joined and was recognized for her contributions to the Van Buren Moody PTA. She regularly attended Common Council meetings and organized and served on several civic boards. Appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission, she was the chairwoman from 1989 to 1992. Additionally, she helped to organize and served on the executive committee of the Westfield Residents for Rational Development, now the Westfield Residents' Association. Ann especially enjoyed spending time with her family, extended family, and friends at celebrations, reunions, and picnics at the family cottage on Lake Pocotopaug, as well as travelling regularly to Maine and Florida. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Farrell and his staff, Kim, Megan and Robin, as well as Peggy, Margret, and Maureen, the nurses at the Middlesex Hospital Outpatient Infusion Center. A special thank you goes to Maria for her dedicated care. Calling hours are Wednesday, June 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at D'Angelo's Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 4, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius Church on Westfield Street. The burial service will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation, www.aamds.org.
