Arthur
Labbadia
Oct 15, 1945 — Jan 26, 2018
Arthur Labbadia, 72 years old, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer on January 26, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Wanda (Arcaria) Labbadia. They shared 44 loving years together.
Arthur is son of the late Giovanni Labbadia and Alessandra (Spirito) Labbadia; survived by his wife Wanda (Arcaria) Labbadia of Portland; son Anthony Giovanni Labbadia and daughter-in-law Ashley (Raczka) Labbadia of Middletown, and grandson Anthony Giovanni Labbadia II; brother Rocco and his wife Virginia Labbadia of Middletown; sister Evelina and husband Paul Antogiovanni of Middletown; sister Marie and husband Bob Woike of Cromwell; brother-in-law Rosario DiMauro of Middletown; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Roberto Labbadia and sister Maria C. DiMauro.
Arthur was born on October 15, 1945, in Lenola Latina, Italy. At the age of thirteen Arthur migrated with his family to America. Soon after, he met Sebastian LaBella, owner of LeBella's Barbershop on Warwick St. in Middletown. Mr. LeBella took Arthur under his wing to help him learn the English language and the barbering trade. After years of working side by side, Arthur took ownership of the barbershop, which is known as Arthur's Barbershop. Arthur's Barbershop legacy will continue to live on through his son Anthony, who has worked along side his father for the last sixteen (16) years.
Arthur's true passions were his grandson (who was the light of his life) gardening, wine making, the stock market, golf, bowling, and spending time with family and friends. He was known to be the life of the party and had a great sense of humor. Many of those who visited the barbershop learned very quickly, that Arthur was a wealth of knowledge and always let you know what was on his mind.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 9 a.m. from D'Angelo Funeral Home at 22 South Main Street, Middletown, followed by a mass of Christian burial at Saint Sebastian Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the family plot at Saint Sebastian Cemetery in Middlefield. Friends and family may call the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 PM to 8 PM. We would like to thank all the staff at Middlesex Hospital Hospice, Middlesex Oncology and Radiology as well as Middlesex homecare for excellent care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Middlesex Hospital hospice, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown, in honor of Arthur Labbadia.
