In loving memory. Bettye Cuper (LaBella) born March 14th, 1928, died on Wednesday, January 07, 2026, at her home, at the age of 97. Bettye spent most of her life living in Middletown and Cromwell until she moved to Florida after retiring from Caldor's Dept. Store. Bettye ended up moving back to Middletown at the request of her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Cuper, her son, Stephen LaBella, and her daughter, Theresa Holloman (LaBella). She is survived by her brother, Roger Tremblay of Middletown, her son, Richard LaBella of Middletown, daughters, Joy LaBella of Rocky Hill and Dale St. Louis of New Hampshire.
Bettye leaves behind eight grandchildren, Steven LaBella, James LaBella, Michael Grant, Tonya Herring, Jennifer LaBella, Mylene Wynn, Angela Adragana and Bruce St. Louis Jr.
Bettye's family also extended to her great-grandchildren, Asia, Tai, Dashawn, Alexis, Travis, Camryn, Jordan, Jaeden, Makye, Amyah, Yanna and Jayceon. Bettye also has 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Bettye will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and her caretakers, Jess, Angela, Tilly and Natassja.
To honor Bettye's wishes, there will be no funeral services, but calling hours will be on Monday, January 19th, 2026, at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown, CT 06457, from 3pm to 5pm. Any cards or arrangements can be sent to D'Angelo Funeral Home.
