DiMauro, Carmelina "Lena"
Carmelina "Lena" (LoGuidice) DiMauro, 92, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2019. She was a loving mother, grandmother and wife, predeceased by her beloved husband Sebastiano, Sebby, DiMauro.
Together they dedicated their lives to their family, instilling a strong work ethic, forward thinking, and the importance of family.
Lena was a vibrant, feisty woman whose greatest joy was spending time with her family, including daughters Maria DiMauro, husband William Keen, and son Maxwell DellaGrotte of Middletown; and Michelle DiMauro Murphy, husband James Murphy and sons Benjamin and Colin of Middlefield.
Carmelina was born in Melilli, Sicily, Italy on May 5, 1927, daughter of the late Salvatore and Carmela LoGuidice. She immigrated to the United States in 1957 becoming a proud citizen shortly thereafter. Lena is survived by several family members, nieces and nephews; her brother Fillipo LoGuidice, sisters Marianna Fazzina and Sebastiana LoGuidice, and is predeceased by her eldest brother Rosario LoGuidice. Lastly, she was predeceased by special family members, Giuseppe and Vincenza Musumeci; and Rosario DiMauro with whom she shared numerous beach outings and family events.
Lena worked for E.I.S. Brake Parts for over 30 years as a machinist. She was proud she could self-handedly lift the heavy boxes to complete her piece work, focused on providing a college education and a better life for her daughters. Lena was a humble, kind, compassionate soul with a warm, welcoming smile and a heart of gold. She was an excellent cook, making sauce from Sebby's garden tomatoes and always eager to share her pasta, meatballs and cutlets. She retired at 69 to wholeheartedly embrace the task of nurturing her grandsons. Lena will be missed by those she touched. We know she will continue to shine upon us from above as our guardian angel. Carmelina's family wishes to thank the Middlebrook Dementia Care staff at Middlesex Health Care Center, who cared for her the past 9 years. Friends and family may call at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., Middletown on Thursday, November 21st, 5 – 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 22, 9 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial, 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church.
