Carmelo ("Carl") Angelo Morello, 51, of Middletown, entered the gates of heaven on May 6, 2023. Carl was born in Middletown, Connecticut on November 25, 1971, the son of his loving parents, Elena and Rosario Morello. He was the beloved father of his pride and joy, Carmelo ("CJ") Angelo Morello, Jr.
Carl dedicated his life to spending time with his friends and family, especially his son, CJ, with whom he enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, riding quads, and other father-son activities. Carl also loved to watch CJ play soccer. Carl was a kind and generous person, with a smile that brightened a room and a sense of humor that lifted any spirit. Carl connected with each person in his life in a special way, and we will forever cherish every moment spent with him.
Carl was a graduate of Vinal Technical High School, where he studied auto body repair, eventually opening his own successful auto body repair business, Post Road Collision in Clinton, CT. Carl was a skilled auto body repair technician and had a talent for all things mechanical. He went on to work as a dedicated employee for several construction companies, before taking his current role with the City of Middletown Public Works Department.
Carl is survived by his parents, Elena and Rosario Morello of Middletown; his son, Carmelo ("CJ") Angelo Morello, Jr.; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Salvatore and Mitzi Morello of Bristol, and Mark and Suzanne Morello of Burlington. Carl also leaves behind his beloved nephews and nieces, Gianluca, Nico, Giovanna, Teagan, Sofia, and Emanuela. Carl is additionally survived by his aunts and uncles, Nicholas and Maureen Morello, Victor and Janet Morello, Maria Bafumi, Pinuccia Bongiorno, and Nella Aresco; CJ's mother, Melissa Morello; many loving cousins; and countless friends. Carl was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Salvatore and Grace Morello; maternal grandparents, Carmelo and Emanuela Aresco; and his uncles, Angelo Aresco, Lello Bongiorno and Salvatore Bafumi.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church, 155 Washington St., Middletown. Burial will follow at the family plot at the St. Sebastian Cemetery in Middlefield. The family will receive guests from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 15, at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carl's memory may be sent to the Carmelo Morello, Jr. Education Fund, Liberty Bank, 315 Main St., Middletown, CT 06457.
