Daniel J.
Turro
Jan 5, 1944 — May 26, 2025
Daniel (Danny) Turro, 81, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, at Water's Edge Center for Health and Rehabilitation, with his loving sister, Johanna (Turro) Kerr, by his side.
Danny was born on January 5, 1944, to the late Daniel (Danny) Turro and Emanuela (Nellie Signorelli) Turro and was a life-long resident of Middletown.
Danny graduated from Vinal Technical High School in 1961 and began working at Standard Knapp in Portland, holding several drafting and managerial positions before his retirement from Pratt and Whitney at age 62.
Danny was extremely knowledgeable about '50s rock n' roll artists, being acknowledged as a rock and roll historian by those who knew him. He was enormously proud of the three successful groups that he had on social media, including Dick Clark and American Bandstand Group with 4,500 members, the Annette Funicello Group with over 3,000 members and Middletown Mania, which had more than 2,500 members. Danny always used to say, "If there was a Rock and Roll Heaven, I would definitely want that to be my final destination."
Danny, a classic car enthusiast, owned a 1957 red Thunderbird and would cruise the shoreline with friends in the summertime and attend many classic car shows.
Danny was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1547 and a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 681.
In addition to his sister, Johanna, Danny leaves his niece, Lynn Kerr (Tom Oeschger), who he thought of as his own daughter, and her children, Sam Oeschger and Mallory Oeschger Sokolowski (Sam), his stepchildren, Lisa Carta and Ronnie Carta, as well as many loving cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., Middletown, on Thursday, June 12, from 5-7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at St. John's Cemetery, Johnson Street, Middletown, on Friday, June 13, at 11 a.m. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Water's Edge for the compassionate care they gave to Danny during the brief time he was there.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Danny's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter or the American Cancer Society.
