Obituary

Edward Francis Button, 92, of Middletown, CT passed away on Saturday February 6, 2016 at home. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Kathryn (Hales) Button who was by his side. He was born February 24, 1923 in Enfield CT, son of the late Edward Warren Button and Louise (Wombacker) Button. A veteran of World War II (Army Air Corps), he worked for the Soil Conservation Service before earning his Master's Degree at UCONN and had a long career with the State of Connecticut Highway Department. He served on the Middletown Planning & Zoning Commission and owned a successful Hydro-seeding business (Conagro). After retirement Edward and Kathryn traveled to Russia, Australia, and spent time with their family. He pursued his passion for writing and published two volumes of work after the age of 80: "Images and Fantasies, An Anthology"; and "Dancing Shadows", a book co-written with his wife Kathryn. He enjoyed taking walks and visiting his neighbors. He was a member of the American Legion, the Eckankar Temple in Middlefield, Sigma Xi, and he stayed in touch with his friends, army buddies and former coworkers. He is survived by his nine children and their families: four sons - Terry Button and wife Ramona of Sacaton, AZ, Keith Button of Seattle, WA, Karl Button of Casa Grande, AZ, Dale Button of Stanfield, AZ, and five daughters - Karen Button of Middletown, CT, Ann (Button) Ling and husband Warren of Mesa, AZ, Dawn Button and husband Dominick Martorelli of Jacksonville, FL, Alice Button and husband William Dillon of Winterville, GA and Marsha (Button) Bransfield and husband Douglas of Middletown, CT and his beloved grandchildren Brandy Button and her daughter Isabella Rose, Velvet Dawn Button, Edward Button and his daughter Tea Bri, Nicolet Gatewood, Justin Bransfield, Clayton Button, Kathryn Rose Button and Daniel Bransfield. He was preceded in death by his sisters Eloise (Button) Bissonette and Ruth (Button) Firtion of Enfield. He is survived by his sister Lillian (Button) Frew of Windsor Locks and his nieces and nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life at the D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street (860) 347-0752 in Middletown on Saturday February 13, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm. Edward will be interred at the Veterans Cemetery in Middletown in July 2016. He will be deeply missed and we thank everyone who was involved in his care.
