Obituary

Edward H. Chmura, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2015, at Southington Care Center. He was born December 24, 1921 in New Britain. He was the husband of the Late Katherine ( DePastino) Chmura. For 67 years. They lived in Edgewood Florida following his retirement. For the past two years resided at the Southington Care Center where he was able to enjoy activities and friendship of the caring and devoted staff. Ed served in the U.S. Army during WW II, and later was employed by New Departure, a division of General Motors. Upon his retirement he enjoyed being a crossing guard at Holcomb School as where he enjoyed the children as they called him "Mr. Ed". He also was a proud member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post # 72 of Southington. He was a devoted Red Sox fan, and spent many hours cheering for a win. His favorite past time was singing with his family and friends especially when they joined him with his favorite tune " In Heaven There is no Beer" He is survived by his loving and devoted daughter Patricia DePaolo. His sister in Law Julia Zarella and Lucy DeGumbia of Southington, Mary Dymond of Charlotte Carolina and Rose Lord of Pensacola Florida. He is predeceased by his special son in law Joseph A. DePaolo III and Brothers Walter, Stanley and Henry Chmura. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday January 10, 2015 at 10 A.M. at St. Thomas Church 99 Bristol St, Southington, Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements under the Direction of the D'Angelo Funeral Home 22 South main st Middletown. If desired in lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Legion Kiltonic Post # 72, 64 Main St, Southington Ct 06489 in Memory of Ed H. Chmura
