Emma Marie Carlson with quiet strength passed away at The Middlesex Health Care Center( MHCC) in Middletown, Ct. on October 21,2015. She lived her life with an infectious spirit, full of love and a joy that lit up a room when she made her presence known. She left peacefully, with her signature smile ever present. Born on July 5, 1921 in Summit, New Jersey, the daughter of Italian immigrants, she was employed for a number of years by Bell Laboratories. Later, she met and married the love of her life and after moving to Alabama and then back to NJ for a time finally settled in Burlington, Vermont where she raised her girls during their formative years and worked for the University of Vermont Bookstore. A gifted singer, she was a member of a semi-professional barbershop quartet group called The Champlain Echoes". She always remarked throughout her life that she would rather "sing than eat!". "Emmy" was pre-deceased by her loving husband, George and dear son in law Gregory Warren. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Leslie Warren and Jeannie Puchir and husband Robert; Grandchildren, Kristen Lewis and husband Tom; Katie Marketto and husband Jon; Tim Warren and wife Moira; Bret Puchir and wife Danielle and 7 great grandchildren; Tommy, Charles and Sam Lewis; Aidan and Greg Marketto; Parker Puchir and James Warren. Emmy had a great relationship and special bond with all those who tended to her daily needs. She was a beloved figure at MHCC where she resided for the last two years of her life. Her family marveled at her and adored her.
