Obituary

Fernand Fournier, 87 passed away on Saturday, May 15th, 2021, after a brief illness. Fred was a Waterbury resident for the last 35 years, where he lived with his wife, Judy Frank Fournier. A Navy Veteran, Fred served proudly on the USS Linnet. Always humble, he down played his Korean War Era service, believing that those who saw battle deserved the higher honor. Fred earned his E1 and ET1 in the Navy, and later got his degree in electronics engineering. He worked as an engineer, designing machine controls for automated manufacturing. He taught electrical code at Oliver Wolcott Tech for three years.

While in the military, Fred acquired an interest in photography. Fred also enjoyed golfing, and was an avid dancer. When his daughter said that he and Judy could compete on Dancing with the Stars, he joked that it wouldn't be a fair competition. In his last year, Fred enjoyed quiet walks in nature and visits from his grand-dog, Moxie, who often accompanied him on walks to the pond to watch the geese.

Fred loved and embraced his large, blended family. He is survived by his siblings Lucille Miller (Alan Miller, deceased), Roger Fournier , and Robert Fournier , as well as his nephews and great-nephews. He is survived by his children and step-children, Katherine Fournier, Michael Fournier and his wife Ann, Nicole Romeo and her husband Joseph, Loren Pelosi, Mark Frank, Gail Goldschmidt and her husband Gary, 8 grandchildren, James, Alyssa, Kyle, Justin, Brian, Jennifer, Heather and Courtney, as well as 5 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Nathan, Noah, Faith, and Ben.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown, CT. Friends and family may pay their respects at 11 am before the service begins. Fred will be enterred at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, with the ceremony beginning at 1 PM.
