Frank Joseph Amara, age 75, passed away on November 25,2016 with his family by his side. He was a loving husband to his wife of 51 years, Nicholette (Thomson) Amara and a caring father to his children and grandchildren. Over his final months, Frank fought valiantly against Tuberculosis Meningitis stemming from Bladder Cancer treatment in 2013. He spent his final days at the hospital of his birth , Middlesex Hospital, where his late mother Anna (Ferraguto) Amara had passed days after he was born and where his late father Joseph P . Amara passed in 1987 . Frank was born and raised in the Sicilian-American North End of Middletown , CT , growing up with his father, aunts and uncles , and his beloved cousins Gary Amara, Angela (Massaro) Amara, and the late Michael Amara. He spent two years in Florida before settling permanently in the shoreline towns of Waterford and Westbrook, CT . He was a lifelong salesman, beginning his career as a stockbroker in the 1960s and was also the owner of Amara Parts in Middletown in early 70's . Frank was a passionate fisherman and a brilliant cook . Nothing made him more happier than it was to bring those two passions together through an amazing dinner for his family . Frank is survived by his son Ron Amara , his daughters Heather Amara-Miles and Lisa Amara Van Horn , son in laws Rick Miles Jr. and Bryce Van Horn, and his 10 grandchildren who always knew him as their "Papa " (Julia , Cassie , Katie , Quinlan, Ashley, Brandon , Abby, Natalie , Liam, and Ricky). A graveside service will be held at 11 : 00 a.m . at St . John's Cemetery on 65 Johnson st . Middletown.
