Frank Carta, of Middletown, Connecticut, passed away on June 1, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at the Middlesex Health Care Center in Middletown, Connecticut. Born July 2, 1923 in Middletown, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Rose (Pace) Carta.
Frank was predeceased by his wife of nearly 66 years, Anna (Spada) Carta, his daughter Carol (Carta) Carlini, his brothers Philp and Carmelo, and his sisters Anne, Virginia, and Theresa. He was also predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Patricia (Leach) Carta and son-in-law Leroy Carlini.
Frank is survived by his son Carl Carta of Middletown, Connecticut; son Robert Carta and his partner Michael Icenhour of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter Anne and her husband John Gauthier of Middletown, Connecticut; and brother Joseph Carta of Middletown, Connecticut;
Frank is also survived by his eight loving grandchildren: Cara Carlini, John, Jr. and Matthew Gauthier, and Kelly, Meghan, Laura, Jennifer (Pons) and Michael Carta. In addition, Frank is survived by many nieces and nephews.
For much of his life, Frank essentially had two full time jobs working seven days a week on the Carta Dairy Farm and putting in long hours at the L. Suzio Construction Co. in Meriden, Connecticut. Frank always had fond memories of selling eggs from the farm on the streets of Middletown. Anyone who knew Frank knew that if you needed any handiwork done, he was your guy. He was a master welder, carpenter, and jack of all trades. Frank thoroughly enjoyed sharing his knowledge, skills, and experiences with his children and grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Frank's outstanding caregivers at the Middlesex Health Care Center for providing great comfort, love and compassionate care to Frank and his family throughout his stay. The family will receive visitors in celebration of Frank's life on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown, Connecticut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday June 6, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 10 Elm Street, Middletown, Connecticut. Interment will follow immediately after Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 307 Bow Lane, Middletown, Connecticut.
