Gail F. Parkhurst
She was 91 years old. The oldest of 8 children, 4 sisters and 1 brother are still alive.
My father, her husband, was Graham C. Parkhurst. He passed in 1987. He served in the Navy during WWII.
I am their only son, Clark Parkhurst.
She grew up on a farm. Lived during the depression.
She was an RN.
Joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps in 1945 to pay for nursing school. Graduated nursing school in 1948. The
nursing school was the New England Hospital for Women and Children in Boston, MA.
She served a year in the Panama Canal Zone as a general duty nurse.
Did missionary work in Panama.
She was a surgical assistant & office nurse to an orthopedic doctor at the Lahey Clinic in Boston, MA.
Nurse for Head Start program in Danbury, CT.
Nurse at a private school, Wooster School, in Danbury, CT.
Started an adult day care center for the elderly in Danbury, CT.
All her life she was very active in which ever church she belonged to.
In 1986 my parents bought the Faircrest Motel, in York, ME, to run as a semi-retirement venture.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday afternoon at 2 P.M. at the D'Angelo Funeral Home 22 South main St.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the First Parish Cemetery, York Maine on June 18 at 11:30.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to The American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association
