It's with great sadness on May 2, 2026, George Angst, of Durham, with his family by his side, passed into the arms of his beloved wife, Marie, and joined her in heaven George was born on February 15, 1933, in Astoria, New York, to George and Helen (Shelley) Angst. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed in Japan and California. After his return to New York, he met the love of his life, Marie (Doherty), and married soon after. They then took the big step of moving to CT, where George attended New Haven College and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. Soon after moving, Marie gave birth to their daughter, Patricia, and she remained daddy's little girl until his passing. George was employed by the state of CT DOT until his retirement. After retiring, he worked for Marine Concepts in Clinton, where he and Chelso Arrigoni developed a long-lasting friendship. George had a love of fishing and hunting and would often take his family and friends on many an expedition. Anyone who knew him knows of his incredible sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh, always finding humor in any situationHe leaves behind his beloved daughter, Patricia, and son-in-law, Randy Eick of Middletown. Also, his "adopted daughter", Carole Benard of Florida; his furry grandchildren, Weezie, Jack and Cooper. He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Katherine Pryor. He also leaves several nieces and nephews; and his special friends, Scotty and Donny, who were always there for him in his later years. The family would also like to thank Dr. Kapoor who took special care of him. A Mass will be held on May 28th, at 10:00 am at Saint Colman's Church in Middlefield. Light refreshments will follow and a chance to share memories. His wish was for everyone to remember a funny story. Burial will be private, at the convenience of the family.
