George Nicholas Pappas
June 1, 1930 - November 1, 2022
George Nicholas Pappas passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 1, 2022. He was born in Providence, RI on June 1, 1930. He met Carmelina, the love of his life, in high school and they spent 70 wonderful years together. Their home was a gathering place for family and friends and together they hosted lavish holiday celebrations.
In his younger years, George was an entrepreneur. His business endeavors ranged from a dry cleaning business to an ice cream shop. He went back to school at Central Connecticut State University, where he earned his degree in business and finance. He was then employed as an enrolled agent for the IRS.
George loved to travel, having visited Europe on several occasions, especially his beloved homeland of Greece. George headed south during the cold New England winters and always took advantage of the opportunity to bask in the Florida sunshine.
We will remember George tapping his fingers or singing and humming to a beat as he reminded us of his days as a drummer. He was a true gentleman and a sharp dresser, proud that he had never owned a pair of jeans. He was always up for a game of setback with family and friends, where he entertained us with his quick wit and funny stories at which he laughed the loudest.
George was predeceased by his love, Carmelina; and youngest daughter, Christine. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Georgia; and grandchildren, Leslie, Ken, Cassidy, Zach, and Logan. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life during Mass on Monday, November 7th at 10:00am at St. Sebastian Church in Middletown.
