Obituary


Giulio S. Giuffrida II, 81 of Middletown, passed away peacefully with his beloved wife Susan of 47 years by his side on August 12th, 2021. Giulio was born April 19, 1940, to Giulio and Helen (Aresco)Giuffrida. Along with his wife he is survived by two children, Sharon Cahill and her spouse David, and Giulio Giuffrida III. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Taylor Cahill, Nicholas Cahill, Cecelia Giuffrida and Giulio Giuffrida IV. He leaves his brother Cos Giuffrida, sister Helen (Giuffrida) Landry and Thomas Giuffrida and several nephews and a niece.
He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Middletown and St. Michael's College in Winooski Vermont. Giulio was an owner of Giuffrida Electric Co. along with his brother Cos and son Giulio III. Giulio was well respected and active within the community. He was a Corporator for Middlesex Health and Liberty Bank. He was Co-President of the Board of Trustees of Indian Hill Cemetery where he played an avid roll in the restoration of the chapel. He was president of Clearwater Condominiums where he loved to spend his summers on his boat with his wife or fishing with his grandchildren.
Giulio enjoyed playing cards with his grandchildren, especially his eldest who beat him all the time. Family and friends meant everything to Giulio. He treasured family events, gatherings, and holidays. He had a witty sense of humor and had the ability to light up a room. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Calling hours are Monday August 16th from 5-7 pm at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 S. Main Street, Middletown. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday August 17th at 12:00 pm at St. Sebastian Church in Middletown. Burial will follow at Indian Hill Cemetery also in Middletown.
The family wishes to thank everyone at the Smilow Cancer Center in New Haven and everyone at the Middlesex Health Hospice Unit in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Middlesex Health Hospice, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown.
It is required that anyone attending the calling hours or services must wear masks and respect social distancing.
