Giuseppa "Josephine" Fazzino (Bonamico), of Middletown, CT, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at the Middlesex Hospital Hospice Care Unit.

Josephine is survived by her loving daughter Maria Combe and son-in-law, Ted Combe, Jr, brother, Natalie Bonamico and wife, Antoinette, Granddaughter, Sheila Giardina and David Giardina, Grandson, Robert Combe, and Great-granddaughters, Stephanie and Alexandra Giardina all from Middletown, CT and several loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nicolo Fazzino and her son Sebastian Fazzino of Middletown, CT, Parents, Carmelo and Maria (Carta) Bonamico and Sister, Concetta Sale (Bonamico) of Melilli, Sicily, and In-laws Carmelo and Maria (Conatta) Fazzino from Middletown, CT

Josephine was born on April 12, 1927 in Melilli, Sicily to Carmelo and Maria (Carta) Bonamico. She graduated high school and pursued her passion for clothing design and seamstress work. In 1948, she married her husband of 56 years, Nicolo Fazzino. They started their family in Italy as they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Maria in 1950. After moving to Middletown in August of 1954, Josephine began working for The Good Year and later established her long term career as a seamstress at Carmela Coat Factor. In 1958 the couple welcomed their son, Sebastian, into their home. Her daughter remembers her as a strong and supportive mother who was always kind and loving to everyone.

Josephine loved to cook, sew, and knit. She enjoyed spending time with her family sharing stories about life lessons. She especially loved the Holidays where she, her daughter, grand-daughter and great-granddaughters would make schiacciata and pizza for family and friends. The memories she made will be cherished forever.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Apple Rehabilitation of Middletown for watching over Josephine and making her comfortable during her two and a half year stay and especially to Middlesex Hospital Hospice Care Unit for providing exceptional care, love, comfort, support, and overall kindness to Josephine and her family during their brief stay.

The family will receive visitors in celebration of Josephine's life on Friday (June 8) from 5 to 7 p.m. at the D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown, CT. Funeral services will be held Saturday (June 9) at 9:00 a.m. from D'Angelo Funeral Home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass of Christian burial at St. Sebastian Church, Middletown. Burial will be in the St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield, immediately following the mass.
