Joseph (Joe) Misenti, 89, of Middletown, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 16, 2023. He was born in Melilli, Sicily on July 24, 1934 and later immigrated to the US in 1960. He was the son of the late Salvatore and Giulia (Marchese) Misenti. Joe was a plumber by trade having started his apprenticeship at International Silver Company and retiring from Pratt & Whitney. During his retirement years, he was active in community organizations such as the Elks Club and Italian American Civic Order. Joe was a devoted parishioner of Saint Sebastian Church, volunteering his time as an usher at weekly mass and at the annual Saint Sebastian Feast where he held many positions in the preparation and planning. Among his hobbies and passions included working with his hands, wine making and gardening. No visit to his house during the summer months went without a tour of his garden and come harvest season he enjoyed the fruits of his labor often giving away his abundance to family and friends.
Besides his beloved wife Tina, he is survived by their daughters, Julia (Domenico) Conti and Mattea (Edward) Finkle, grandchildren, Alexa Conti, Martina Conti, Cara Conti, Matthew Finkle and Kayla Finkle whom he adored, sisters, Anna Rotondi, Filomena Annino and Flavia DeBiasi and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Maria Saraceno and Eleonora DiMauro.
Calling hours will be held at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown, on Friday, October 20th from 8:30-10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Saint Sebastian Church, Middletown, on Friday, October 20th at 10:30 a.m., interment will be at Saint Sebastian Cemetery, Middletown, immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Saint Sebastian Church Renovation Fund.
