Joseph P. "Butchie" Vernali, Jr., passed away on January 23, 2017, in Chapin, SC.
He was a lifelong resident of Middletown, CT., the son of Giuseppe and Grace Vernali.
Butchie leaves behind Sharon Vernali, the love of his life of 52 years,
his children, daughter Alisa (Vernali) Muscatello and son in law Michael Muscatello,
daughter Renee (Vernali) Cozine, his granddaughters Lea and Emma Cozine who were
the apples of his eyes, and his dog Scooby.
Butchie was predeceased by his sister, Mary, & brother in law Francis Marino.
He is is survived by brother, John, sister in law Nancy Vernali, brother Steve Vernali, and predeceased sister in law, Monica, sister Lucille (Vernali) Muscatello, and predeceased brother in law, Joseph "Muskie" Muscatello.
In addition, he had many beloved nieces and nephews. Butchie was loved and respected by all who knew him.
He was president of Laborers' Local 611 after 45 years of service. Besides loving vacations in Maine with his family, Butchie was an avid sports fan of the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, and UConn Huskies girls basketball. His wife, Sharon, would like to give special thanks to the doctors and staff at Palmetto Heart Health Hospital, SC. Calling hours are Monday, January 30th, from 5-7pm at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., Middletown, CT. Burial arrangements will be private at the request of the family.
