Josephine "Josie" (Salemi) Marchese
November 14, 1930 – August 13, 2025
Josephine "Josie" (Salemi) Marchese, of Rockfall, Connecticut, beloved wife of the late Attilio Marchese, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at The Village at South Farms, in Middletown.
A lifelong resident of the area, Josie retired from Daniels Oil Company in Portland. She was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Josie is survived by her son, Arthur Marchese; her daughters, Jo-Ann Dumas (and the late James Dumas) and Susan Dzialo (and Paul Dzialo); her grandchildren, Jennifer Turek (and Dan Turek), Amy Marchese, Michael Marchese, Katie Nadeau (and John Nadeau), Alicia Wylaz (and Damien Wylaz), and John Salafia (and Brianna Salafia); and her six cherished great-grandchildren, Zack, Gabby, Olivia, Jack, Nella, and Lacy; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Sebastiano and Maria (Lanza) Salemi; seven brothers, Spigo, Charles, Mario, Louis, Johnny, Joseph, and James Salemi; and four sisters, Mary Marchese, Anna Marcellino, Lucy Salemi, and Vicky Marino.
Josie's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at The Village at South Farms (Benchmark), the Trinity Hospice team, and her friends and neighbors, who offered their care, kindness, and support.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 18th, 2025, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Sebastian Church, Washington Street, Middletown. She will be laid to rest in a private burial, beside her husband, at Saint Sebastian Cemetery, in Middlefield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Hospice, 659 Tower Avenue, Hartford, CT 06112.
