Obituary

Josephine L. Monarca, passed peacefully on June 22, 2018 with her children by her side. At the age of ninety, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Salvatore L Monarca, and sister Rose Perry, and many other dear family members and friends. She is survived by her son Richard Monarca and his wife, Barbara as well as her daughter JoAnn O'Leary and her husband Kevin, and the joy of her life, grandchildren Sean and Meghan O'Leary and fiancé Linas Kenter. Josephine was born in Hartford, CT to Ralph and Pauline Gattinella. Upon marrying, Josephine moved to her forever home in Middletown, where she was a consummate homemaker, cook, baker and crocheter. "Nonnie" loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her many special nieces, nephews, and extended  family and friends. The family is grateful for the Pilgrim Manor and Hospice caregivers who supported her in her final days.
There will be a mass of Christian burial in her honor on Tuesday July 3rd at St. Sebastian Church at 10:00 with visitation prior to the mass at D'Angelo funeral home 8:30-  9 :30 .in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Josephine to St. Sebastian Renovation Fund.
