Obituary

Lena (Crescimanno) Tobias, 104, of Middletown, CT, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born on December 16, 1920, to the late Rosario and Vincenza (Guiliano) Crescimanno.
She was a life-long resident of Middletown and attended Middletown public schools. Prior to her retirement, Lena was employed by the Goodyear Rubber Company, Connecticut Mutual Insurance and, lastly, the Ripley Company. She was actively involved in the St. Sebastian Church funeral reception committee and the Emblem Club of the Middletown chapter of BPOE Elks and the Garibaldi Society of Middletown.
In 1946 she married Joseph Tobias and they spent 56 wonderful years together. They were blessed to have two daughters, Elaine and Sharon. Lena and Joe enjoyed spending their retirement years vacationing throughout New England, especially Ogunquit, ME. Lena loved doing crafts, painting, ceramics and reading. She had a wonderful circle of friends that she cherished and kept in contact with right up until her death. She especially loved weekly outings with her "Tuesday Lunch Bunch". Her family will be forever grateful to that group of women for the love and support they showed her. Lena was very strong and independent and lived alone in her own home until her final months.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Tobias, sisters, Rose Crescimanno, Mary Lastrina, Angie Salustro and Helen Carta, brothers, Sebastian and Salvatore Crescimanno. She leaves behind daughters, Elaine Tobias of Pocatello ID, Sharon Klos and her husband Matthew Klos of Glastonbury. Additionally, she leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Matthew Klos and wife Monica, and Allison Lybass and husband Michael, her brother, Thomas Crescimanno and wife Joyce, two great-grandchildren, Caroline Klos and Katherine Lybass, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her family expresses their gratitude to Dr. Jonathan Siegel, the Middlesex Healthcare Hospice team, and her wonderful Westfield Street neighbors, Pat, Diane, Nicole, Bill and June, who were always there for her and her former home aide, Janet Lindskog.
