MUSCATELLO, LUCILLE M. (Vernali)entered eternal peace on March 3, 2017, at age 78, surrounded by her loving family at the Weiss Hospice Unit at Middlesex Hospital, after fighting a brief but courageous battle. Lucille was born in Middletown on August 9, 1938 to Grace Sononne and Giuseppe Vernali. She lived in Middletown her entire life, and married her childhood sweetheart, Joseph "Muskie" Muscatello. They were married for 39 years. Lucille's passion in life was caring for her family of four children and later her grandchildren and great - grandchild. After raising her children, she began working for the Middletown School System Food Service, combining her love of cooking and learning. She enjoyed working in the school cafeteria and spent many years there. She later worked for the Middlesex Hospital Environmental Department, where she enjoyed not only what she often said was the best job she ever had, but the many long lasting and close friendships she made there. Lucille was a proud and fun-loving grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed nothing better than being with her extended family. She is predeceased by her husband Joseph "Muskie" Muscatello and her parents Giuseppe and Grace Vernali. She is survived by her four children, Paula, Mark, Maria and Michele Muscatello, her grandchildren, Bristy DeToro, Rachel Smythe, Jason Smythe, Michael Joshua DeToro and great granddaughter Sarina Grace DeToro. She is predeceased by her sister Mary A. (Vernali) Marino and brother-in-law Francis "Chick" Marino, brother Joseph "Butch" Vernali, sister in law Monica "Pudge" Vernali, sister in law Lorraine (Muscatello) Donahue, brother and sister in law Richard and Kay Muscatello and brother- in-law Ken Konefal. She is survived by her brother John and sister-in-law Nancy Vernali, brother Steve Vernali, sister in law Sharon Vernali and sister in law Beverly (Muscatello) Konefal.
