Margaret "Peggy" Paolillo, of Middletown, CT, died unexpectedly from an unforeseen illness, at the age of 87, on Friday, April 24, 2026. The family is deeply saddened by her sudden departure.Peggy was born on July 18th, 1938, near Wooster St., in New Haven, CT, New Haven's "Little Italy" and home of the world's best pizza. She lived in the greater New Haven area most of her life. Peggy worked as a machine operator at Pratt & Whitney Aerospace Company for many years, while raising her daughter as a single parent.Peggy later met the love of her life, Paul Brocket. She then relocated to Niantic, CT, where Paul owned and operated a commercial fishing boat, the MIJOY. You could frequently find Peggy sitting on a bench at Crescent Beach, waving to Paul, as the MIJOY made its departures and returns. The couple were enthusiastic patrons of many restaurants, stores, and concert venues in the Niantic Bay area. They enjoyed over 20 years together, first with their rescue cat named Blossom, then their first Bichon dog, Big Caesar, and finally raising another Bichon puppy, Little Caesar, who entertained Peggy and Paul with his classic Bichon "zoomies."Peggy valued time with her friends and family, and cultivated meaningful relationships, including a 70-year friendship with her childhood friend, Lois (RIP 2021) and a 40-year-friendship with her close friend, Joan. Everyone who knew Peggy was charmed by her youthful, spirited character. Specific songs and phrases with her family held a deep meaning to her, such as a song that she always sang for her daughter, Lisa, "A Bushel and a Peck", and a phrase she always shared with her grandchild, Elan, "you're always in my heart". Peggy certainly will always be in our hearts and will be greatly missed.Peggy was predeceased by her beloved, Paul Brockett; her parents, George Jerolman and Margaret Cleto; and her brother, Andy Jerolman. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Rooney; her grandchildren, Danielle Steelman and Elan French; her great-grandson, Connor Steelman; and her nephew, Gregg Jerolman. There will be a graveside service on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 10 A.M., located at East Lawn Cemetery, 58 River St., East Haven, CT.
