Maria ( Pitruzzello) Fazzino, beloved wife of Joseph Fazzino of Middletown, passed away peacefully Tuesday August 5th, surrounded by her family. She was born October 12, 1925, in Melilli, Sicily, daughter of the Late Mauro and Sebastiana ( Campisi) Pitruzzello. Maria Arrived in the U.S in 1953, bravely flying across the ocean on a 22 hour flight with her young son to join her husband who had arrived a year earlier. She assimilated into life here in the U.S., quickly learning the language and adopting the culture, but never forgetting her Sicilian roots. She was a devoted member of St. Sebastian Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and welcomed all with kind words and delicious Sicilian Treats. She was a good gardener and loved sharing her flowers. Her sense of humor and quick wit always brightened our days. Her love of Italian Music was joyful and comforting throughout her life. She left us as a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandparent and great friend to all Besides her husband of 67 years she is survived by two sons Anthony and his wife Lina, Mario and his wife Suzzane of Middletown. . Daughter Paula Lieberman and her husband Jonathan. Six grandchildren Joseph and Wife Louise, Maryellen Doyle and her husband Bradley, Paul, John, Jennifer, Richard Lieberman and his wife Sarah. Two great grandchildren Harris Doyle and Linnea Fazzino. A Sister Rosa Giurintano of Mississippi, Brother and sister in laws and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers Sebastiano, Carmelo, Giuseppe, Salvatore and Luigi Pitruzzello and a sister Lucia Vinci. Funeral Services will be held Saturday morning at 9 a.m. from the D'Angelo Funeral Home 22 South Main St followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Sebastian Church. Burial will follow in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield. Her family would like to thank her exceptional caretakers, Menzura ( Maya) and Mouhamed.
