Maria Rita ( Maltese) Rau, 61, of Middletown, died on March 6 t h , 2018 at 3:45 P.M. at Middlesex Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 5, 1956, In Melilli Sicily, daughter of the Late Paul and Angelina ( Branciforte) Maltese. She immigrated to the United States in 1964 She worked at E.I . S Automotive for 17 years, where she met her husband Frederick P. Rau. They married in 1985 and became parents Robert P . and Michael P. Rau . Michael and Robert where Rita's pride and joy in life. After working at Alburn Manufacturing, she worked at Middlesex Hospital as an environmental aid, her favorite job of her career . As an employee of the Hospital Rita was well regarded and much loved by

her co-workers. She was a hard worker, always quick to smile and care for others.

She was a devote member of St. Sebastian church, where she was a member of the Franciscan Third Order , Rita was always full of life, happiness and joy.

She is survived by her loving husband Frederick Rau and her two beloved sons Robert and Michael Rau. She is also survived by two sisters Emanuela Barone and her husband Sebastian, and Lina Fazzino and her husband Anthony. Sister in Law Betty Pierson, and many nieces and her close friends Linda, Lori, Joe, Judy and Bill . Also a Group of Walkers that she adored Joanne, Sandra, Linda and Phyllis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday morning at 10 A.M. at St. Sebastian Church. Burial w i ll follow in St. Sebastian Cemetery. Middlefield. Family requests people go directly to church . Friends may call at the D'Angelo Funeral Home 22 south main St, Friday from 5-8 P . M. In Lieu of Flowers donations in her memory may be made to St Sebastian Church, 155 Washington St.
