Mary Iacobellis
April 7, 1925 - January 1, 2025
Sadly, Mary (Russo) Iacobellis, age 99, passed away on January 15, 2025. At the time of her passing, she was in Hospice care at Skyview Nursing and Rehab in Wallingford, CT.
Mary was born on April 7, 1925, in Middletown, the daughter of Sebastiana (Gallitto) Russo and Giovanni Russo. She resided in Middletown and also in Portland, CT. She was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Candido (Connie) Iacobellis. She was also predeceased by her sister, Josephine Kalinowski, and brothers, Philip, Sebastian (Ted), Salvatore and Louis (Bobby) Russo. She is survived by her daughters, Anne Aksamit and her husband Frank of Newington, CT and Marie Satagaj of Punta Gorda, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jordan Satagaj and his husband Paul George of New Milford, CT, Jaimie Satagaj of North Port, FL and Jenny Satagaj of Fort Meyers, FL, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother. In her younger years, she worked at Sears Roebuck when it was in Middletown, and at Russell Manufacturing /Fenner America, also in Middletown. Mary enjoyed her retirement. She loved sewing and made clothes for her children, for Barbie dolls and for her grandchildren. Every summer, she planted a large vegetable garden. Her love of cooking was a delight to her entire family. There was always a homemade bread, Sicilian pizza or Italian lady finger cookies in the oven when anyone came to visit.
D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., Middletown, CT 06457, is in charge of the arrangements. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 10AM-12PM.
A private burial will be held at a later date in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Rockfall, CT.
