Maureen "Moe" Somers Smith, age 70, of Middletown, CT passed away peacefully at Middlesex Hospital on Saturday April 11,2015 after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Margerite S. and Paul J. Somers. She was born in Hartford on September 27, 1944. She was a graduate of Hartford Hospital School of Nursing, Central Connecticut State University, and Hartford Graduate Center. Maureen was formerly employed at Hartford Hospital, Travelers Insurance, Blue Cross, and State of CT Office of Healthcare Advocate. She spent the majority of her career giving care and helping others. She was a huge fan ofthe UCONN Ladies Basketball program and enjoyed watching the Boston Celtics. She is survived by her 2 sons William A. Smith and his wife, Sheila Smith, of Middletown, CT, and David B. Smith of Boston, Massachusetts, her Companion, William B. Smith, of Wethersfield, CT, her grandson, Joshua Magnano, of Middletown, CT, her sister, Louise Weske and her husband Craig Weske of Portland, CT, and her brother Dr. Paul J. Somers and his wife Michelle Somers of Nashville, TN. She has 3 nephews Paul Weske, Chris Weske, and Blake Somers. Funeral Services will be held Thursday morning at 9 A.M. from the D'Angelo Funeral Home 22 South Main St, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at ST. Mary's Church, Middletown. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home Weds from 5-8 P.M.
