Michael B
Kelly
Jul 27, 1940 — Mar 31, 2025
Michael B. Kelly, 84, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, at The Village of South Farms in Middletown, Connecticut.
Michael was born on July 27, 1940, in Brunswick, Maine, son of the late John and Alice (Bredbenner) Kelly. After graduating from Middletown High School, Michael proudly served his country with honor in the United States Army from 1958-60 and was called back during the Berlin Crisis in 1961 before being honorably discharged in 1962. In addition he also served several years as a volunteer firefighter for both the Connecticut Valley and South District Fire Departments.
After returning from the Army, Michael worked for the State of Connecticut Purchasing Department for 34 years and retired from the State in 1996. He then worked for several years part-time at Jackson Chevrolet in Middletown. In retirement, he could often be found tinkering around in the garage, taking trips to the casino or simply sitting on the front porch where he spent countless hours chatting with neighbors and sharing stories. A devoted grandparent, Michael never missed a chance to cheer on his grandson playing baseball, especially during a trip to watch him play in Cooperstown. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and UCONN Husky fan. He spent the last few years at the Village at South Farms where he made many new friends and became a popular participant in the Monday evening choir practice.
Michael was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Marie Kelly. He is survived by his daughters Cheryl Kelly (Michelle Ryan) and Michelle Marszalek (Joseph Marszalek), his adored grandson Connor Marszalek (Svitlana Marszalek) and his grandogs Cosmo, Porter, Marlin and Harper. He is also survived by his beloved brother Shaun Kelly (Sharon Kelly) along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Michael was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Sylvia Kelly and his brother Timothy Kelly.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Village at South Farms and Athena Home Health and Hospice for their outstanding care and support to Michael.
Friends may call on Friday April 25th from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at D'Angelo Funeral Home in Middletown, CT to honor and celebrate Michael's life. A private military burial will be held at the State of Connecticut Veteran's Cemetery immediately following.
