Paolo Fazzino, 84, of Middletown, beloved husband of Marinella (Salafia) Fazzino, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Paolo was born on February 26 in Melilli, Sicily, the son of the late Luigi and Carmela Fazzino. In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by his daughters Carmela Fazzino-Farah and her husband Dr. Fadi Farah and Agatha Fazzino-Fuggi and her husband Matthew Fuggi. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Joseph, Emily, Sofia, and Sam, and his sister Anna (Fazzino) Salafia of Melilli, Sicily.  He leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Paolo was predeceased by his brother Nicola Fazzino of Argentina.

Paolo immigrated to the United States in 1969. He was employed by the City of Middletown where he worked for 32 years in the Department of Public Works. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Sebastian Church.

Paolo enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and grandchildren whom he lived for and loved beyond measure. On any given day you could find Paolo in the kitchen cooking the fruits of his labor. He was known among his family and friends as a master at his ability to grow anything. He learned how to farm the land at a young age with his beloved father on their campagna in Sicily where they spent countless hours during Paolo's formative years.

Besides his incredible work ethic, which he modeled and passed on to his children and grandchildren, Paolo's greatest attribute was his selflessness. The minute anyone needed help, he was there.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, February 20 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown, CT, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Sebastian Church, 155 Washington Street, Middletown. Burial will follow the mass at Saint Sebastian Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paolo's memory to St. Sebastian's Renovation Fund, 155 Washington St., Middletown, CT 06457.
