Patricia Ann (Barone) Griffin, beloved wife of James A. Griffin of Middletown, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 9 2023. Born on September 4, 1942, Patricia was the daughter of John and Sally (Czjaka) Barone. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother,  Richard Barone and former husband Carl Gessaro. Patricia was born and raised in Middletown and lived in Enfield and Madison before returning back to Middletown. She graduated from Middletown High School and embarked on a career at Travelers Insurance Company before dedicating many years as an extraordinary mother, raising her three children. Patricia also held positions at CT Employees Union Independent and Statej of CT Administrative Services. Following her retirement, while residing in Madison, Patricia was active in her community. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Margaret's RC Church and was a member of Encore Group and The Women's Club. In their spare time, Patricia and Jim enjoyed travel. They had many adventures, including trip to Alaska, Ireland and Italy with several winter sojourns in Florida, as well as many football weekends at Notre Dame. As a grandmother, nothing gave her as much joy as spending time with her grandchildren. Her beauty, kindness and generosity will t forever hold a special place in the hearts of her cherished family and friends. In addition to her husband, she leaves behind her brothers John Barone and his wife Linda of Moodus, and Robert Barone and his wife Maryrose of Middlefield, sister-in-law Lea Salafia and her husband Sebastian, her children Gary Gessaro and his wife Kris (Zywocinski) of Middletown, Michael Gessaro, and Pamela (Gessaro) Russell and her husband Jim of Middletown, her grandchildren Jason, Carley, Olivia, Finn, Emily and Mathew, her dearest childhood friend Betty, many nieces, nephews and extended family embers including stepsons Gregory, Daniel, and James Griffin and their families. Patricia's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Assisted Living Services, Inc, and Middlesex Health Care at home for their support and exceptional care. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St, Middletown, CT. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Pius X Church, 310 Westfield Street, Middletown, CT. Interment will be held at the CT Veteran's Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT.
