Obituary

Peter L. Branciforte, 86, of Cromwell, passed away peacefully in Middlesex Hospital on May 16, 2015, after a very courageous battle with heart disease and pneumonia. Peter, son of the late James and Rosa (Carta) Branciforte, was born on July 22, 1928, at the family homestead on Main Street, Cromwell. Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Minnie (Ferrera) Branciforte, and his four children and spouses, James Branciforte and wife Eileen, Anthony Branciforte and wife Barbara, Rosemarie (Branciforte) McPherson and husband Albert, and Suzanne C. Branciforte. Peter enjoyed spending time with all his grandchildren: Jessica Branciforte and husband Christopher Didomizio, Amanda Branciforte, Nicolas Branciforte, Kerry Hoyt and husband Adam, Matthew Carli, Scott Carli and Michael Vargo. Peter served with distinction in the U. S. Army during the Korean War with an honorable discharge. Peter and Minnie both worked for Hartford Precision Ball Company for 28 years and retired together to enjoy what they both loved; being with each other, enjoying their home, especially sitting on the front porch, and traveling. Peter loved nothing more than family gatherings with all his children, grandchildren and especially large gatherings which also included his brothers and sisters. He would often spend hours on the phone with his siblings, talking about the new and old times. Peter is also survived by his brother, Angelo Branciforte and his wife Sandy, Mil Branciforte and his wife Pat, and sister Delores (Branciforte) Russo and husband Sebastian. He was predeceased by his brothers Carl and Sebastian Branciforte, and sisters Mary (died at birth) and Connie Branciforte, Mary (Branciforte) Certo, and Josephine (Branciforte) Monarca. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday May 20, 2015 at 11am at St. Johns Church, Cromwell, burial will followed at St. Sebastian cemetery in Middletown. Call Hours are 8:30 am to 10:30 am Wednesday morning May 20, 2015. D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown, CT is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of Flowers donations may be made in Peters' memory to the American Heart Association.
