Obituary

Rose Marie Mordarski
December 17, 1930 - November 3, 2024
Rose Marie (DeCarlo) Mordarski, 93, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 3rd, surrounded by family. She was born December 17, 1930, in Middletown, CT, daughter of the late Rocco and Josephine DeCarlo.
She is survived by her son, John Mordarski (Gloria) of Enfield, her daughter, Gail Kulinski (Stephen), her sister, Louise Russo (Phil), nieces, nephews and her two loving grandchildren, Joseph and Emily Kulinski whom she supported in all of their athletic and theater activities.
She was a member of St. Sebastian Church, a lifetime member and past President of St. Theresa's Guild, and member of the Norwich Council of Catholic Women. As a teen she was chosen to represent the parish in the May Crowning. She was very active in all aspects of the parish including a long time President of the school PTO and a volunteer at various church functions.
She was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, the Catholic Golden Agers, and a lifetime member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Post 189, Ladies Auxiliary. She proudly donated to many Catholic charities and organized bus trips to many shrines in the region with Tours of Distinction. She was known on these trips for her corny games to make the bus ride fun.
She served as a Girl Scout Troop leader and volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America working at the holiday rest area coffee stops on I-91.
She was an avid duckpin bowler who participated in many local and national tournaments. She was the first women's bowler to bowl a 400 series(408) at Meriden Lanes in 1963. She was a six-time television champion on Channel 18, and as the show was canceled, she was the reigning all-time duckpin bowling television champion. She ran the children's league at Teller's Lanes for a number of years.
Most of all, she was well known for her cake decorating. Family members and friends would turn to Rose Marie to decorate a specialty cake for the occasion, whether it was a wedding, birthday, baby shower, or retirement party; her cakes were the hit of the party.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday November 14th, at 8 AM at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church, 155 Washington Street, Middletown. Burial will be in the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown where she will join her husband John for eternity.
