Born February 18, 1922 in Middletown CT to Louis V. and Aurora R. Trotta and predeceased by her husband, Fred C. Franco Sr., Rose passed away peacefully on June 22, 2023 in Greenport, NY at the age of 101. She resided most of her life in Middletown.
Survived by a large loving family including two children, Fred Franco Jr. (Tammy) of Lakewood Ranch, FL and Diane Radigan of Mattituck NY; five grandchildren: Christopher M. Radigan (Carolyne), Ashley Franco Reeves (Cory), David A. Radigan, Tyler D. Franco and Megan A. Radigan; four great grandchildren: Carter Rose Radigan, Jackson Reeves, Brody Radigan and Jordan Reeves, one sister, Josephine T. Poliner; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters, Jane Satagaj, Emma Kuchta (her twin), Jessie Trotta, Ernestine Messer and Ida Pedrolini, as well as Anthony Franco, Rose Teardo, Salvatore Franco, Frances Renock, Mary Yuniskis, Joseph Franco, James Franco, Barbara Bissonnette and their spouses.
Rose was a graduate of Middletown High School and Bay Path Institute where she received the Bay Path Institute Award with high distinction. During WWII, Rose worked at Wilcox Crittenden, a marine hardware firm as Secretary to the President. Married in 1951, she and her husband were involved in the 1957 construction of St. Pius X Church as well as the Middletown Republican Committee for many years. She served as the secretary to the Board of Directors at the Middletown YMCA and as the 1960 Census Clerk for Middletown.
Prior to retirement in 1987, Rose worked at Wesleyan University in the President's Office for nearly 30 years serving the Board of Trustees and all Executive Committees. In 1984, she was named as Assistant Secretary, the first female officer of the University.
Visitation is 5pm-8pm Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at D'Angelo's Funeral Home. Funeral is 10am Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at St. Pius X Church in Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation.
