Obituary

Sally St. Paul Ross, 89, a longtime resident of Rockfall, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

Born in Portland, Connecticut, on November 18, 1935, Sally was one of four children of Louis and Lucille St. Paul.

She was raised in East Harford and graduated from East Hartford High School in 1953. Upon graduation, her family moved to Rockfall, Connecticut. There, she met her future husband, John T. Ross of Meriden, and they were married in 1954. They moved to Cromwell, Connecticut, where they raised three children.

In 1968, she returned to the workforce and worked as an administrative assistant at the State Board of Education and Services for the Blind for 35 years. Sally retired in 1986 but continued working part-time for the state for many years.

Sally was active in the AFSCME Local # 318 and a Member of the Retirees Chapter, where she served as vice president and secretary, respectively.

Sally believed in giving back to her community. She was a member of the Portland Garden Club and the Ladies Guild of Saint Colman Church in Rockfall for many years.

When Sally finally retired, she and her husband traveled throughout the country, visiting friends and family members. In 2007, she and her two daughters traveled to Mellili, Italy, to learn about her ancestors and see the town where her mother was born.

Sally loved gardening, crafting, reading, making dozens and dozens of Christmas cookies, and spending time with her family, especially her five grandchildren, whom she watched grow up to be beautiful, successful young adults.

Following her father's footsteps, her favorite pastime was when she went crabbing off the Connecticut shores and then making crab sauce, which was a family favorite.

Sally was predeceased by her husband, John T. Ross, Sr., her son, John T. Ross, Jr, and three sisters, Lucille St. Paul, Josephine Clark, Elaine Molde, and Godchild, Todd Graham.

She will be forever loved and remembered by her two daughters, Lori (Oliver) Radke of New Hampshire and Sheri (Mike) Guerrera of Connecticut, and five grandchildren, Tyler (Jill) Calhoun of New York, Alex Radke of Texas, Taylor Radke of Connecticut, Jesse Radke of Florida, and Evan Guerrera of Connecticut, and a great-grandson, Wesley Calhoun of New York.
