Salvatore Lagana, 92, of Middletown, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Middlesex Health Care Center with his family by his side. Born in Melilli, Sicily, he was the beloved husband of Mary Marino Lagana for 67 years. He was the son of the late Joseph and Sebastiana Lagana. Salvatore was a Master Tailor and co-owner of Lagana Clothiers in Wethersfield. He was also a member of the Italian Society of Middletown.

A devoted and loving family man with the warmest and most generous heart of gold , Sal is survived by his son, Richard Lagana and his wife Jackie of Portland, daughters Eileen Mulawka and husband Ted of Middletown, and JoAnne Kovach and husband Alan of Portland; grandchildren , Alan Kovach, Jr. and Keith Kovach of San Diego, CA. , Corey (Lagana) Stabach and husband Jason of Wethersfield, and Meagan (Mulawka) Davis and husband Todd of Long Island City , Queens , NY ; great-grandchildren Will, Nathan and Lily Stabach of Wethersfield.

He is also survived by his brothers Sebastian Lagana of Newington , Hugo Lagana and his wife Virginia of Wethersfield , and Benito Lagana and his wife Nancy of Portland; sisters, Antoinette Pitruzzello and husband Nick of Middletown , Ottavia Scianna of Middletown, and Flavia DiDato and her husband , Louis of Florida. Sal is predeceased by a granddaughter , Dana Marie Lagana and his sisters Maria Germano and Bianca Tringali. Funeral services in celebration of Salvatore's life will be held on January 30th with a procession from D' Angelo Funeral Home, 20 South Main St . , Middletown beginning at 9: 15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM at St . Sebastian Church , 155 Washington St . , Middletown. Burial will follow in St . Sebastian Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday at D' Angelo Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers , donations in Salvatore ' s memory may be made to the Alzheimer ' s Association CT Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd. , Suite 4B , Southington , CT 06489 or to St .
