It is with profound sadness that the family of Salvatore "Toto" Marcellino, of Torrington, announce his passing on Saturday, June 7, 2025. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Salvatore will be remembered by his wife of 41 years, Josephine, his only son, Mario, and wife, Amy, of Middletown, brothers, Mariano and Stefano of Sciara, Sicily, sister, Maria of Sciara, Sicily, brothers-in-law, Franco of Sciara, Sicily, Steven Tripi of Ocala, Florida, Tony Tripi of Aberdeen, North Carolina, his sisters-in-law, Giuseppa and Crocetta of Sciara, Sicily, along with 14 nieces and nephews, as well as numerous relatives.
Salvatore was predeceased by his brothers, Giuseppe and Michele, sister, Giacomina, brothers-in-law, Franco Lombino of Palermo, Sicily and Charlie Tripi of Middletown, Connecticut, sisters-in-law, Maria and Giuseppa, and parents, Mariano and Vincenza of Sciara, Sicily.
Salvatore was born on May 1, 1951, in Sciara, Sicily. It was there where he took on the family trade of farming, and enlisted in the Italy Armed Services at the age of 18. He and his wife got married in April of 1984. Salvatore continued to work and live in Sicily until 1986, when he, his wife, Josephine, and infant son then immigrated to America in search of better opportunities. Shortly after arriving in America, he and other family members purchased and operated an Italian restaurant in Ardsley, New York. In 1992, Salvatore then purchased Roberto's Pizzeria in Middletown, Connecticut, where he and his family had the pleasure of feeding the community the best eggplant parmesan grinders until 2009. In 1998, Salvatore was diagnosed with kidney failure and less than a year later his wife, Josephine, selflessly donated her kidney to him in a display of unwavering love and devotion. In 2010, he and his wife moved to Torrington, Connecticut, where they lived the rest of his years. Salvatore loved watching Formula 1 racing, was an Italian soccer enthusiast, and enjoyed trips to the casino with his wife, where he enjoyed playing video poker.
The family would like to thank DaVita Dialysis in Torrington, Connecticut, for all of the loving care he received over the years.
A memorial service will be held from 5PM-7PM, on June 19, at D'Angelo Funeral Home, located on 22 South Main Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
