Obituary

Salvatore A Morello, 75 of Cromwell died on November 4, 2014. Born in Middletown, a proud Center Streeter, son of the late Nicholas and Rosina Morello. Sal was a graduate of Middletown HS, Vaughn Barber School and served in the US Army. He opened Colonial Barber Shop in 1964 in the historic downtown district of Cromwell. Sal spent numerous hours honing his craft in Men's Hairstyling leading him to compete in State and National Hairstyling competitions. He won the best of Connecticut, Best of Boston, The New England Hairstyling Championship and the 1976 US Men's Hairstyling Championship as part of team in Chicago Illinois. Sal changed the name of his business to New Image in 1978 and it still thrives today. He had a passionate interest in the Downtown district of Cromwell. Served on the Z.B.A, was the president of the downtown Merchants Association and President of the Old Colony Beach Association in Old Lyme. He was a devoted Husband and Father, possessed a tireless work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit. His friendliness, playfulness and charm were as much an asset to his business as his skill. Sal is survived by his loving wife and childhood sweetheart of 52 years Jane Morello. A son Daniel Morello and his wife Wendy of Rocky Hill. A son John Morello of Cromwell, two Grandchildren Michael and Jake and a loving sister in law Antoinette Moore of Middletown. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hartford Hospital, Father James Maltese who accompanied the family during Sal's passing, Father Mark Bonsignore and Dr Michael Spada who cared for Sal throughout his illness. Calling hours will be held on Sunday afternoon Nov 9 from 4-7 pm at D'Angelo Funeral Home 22 South Main St Middletown, CT. Funeral will be held Monday Nov 10 at 11 am St John's Church in Cromwell.
