Salvatore Russo, 93, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Melilli, Sicily, son of the late Giovanni and Anna (Lagana) Russo. He is survived by his loving wife, Nella (DiMauro), of 62 years. He was predeceased by his beloved son, John, who he loved unconditionally. Besides his wife, he is survived by his devoted daughter, AnnaMaria Ruel and her husband, Raymond of Middletown, CT. He also leaves behind his precious granddaughters, Michelle Ruel of Bala Cynwyd, PA and Melissa Corriveau and her husband Jason of Middletown, CT. He was predeceased by his siblings: Vincent Russo, Maria Russo, and Albina Salafia. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Sal was employed by the State of Connecticut for 26 years, as well as Wesleyan University. Sal loved spending time with his family and meals always ended with an espresso. He loved to spend time in his garden, where he always had an array of vegetables. Sal was so proud of his family; especially of his granddaughters and was excitedly anticipating the birth of his first great-grandchild, who he'd refer to as "the little angel". He was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Sebastian Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sebastian Church on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at the family plot at St. Sebastian Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at D'Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main St., Middletown.
