Sebastian James Tosta, affectionately known to family and friends as "Busty," passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2026, at the age of 88. He was born on June 10, 1938, to the late Sebastiano Tosta and Lucia Bombacci Tosta.Busty was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was the devoted father of Leanne (Steve) Salka, Scott (Donna) Tosta, Alison (Michael) Eller, and Kevin (Alison Grieveson) Tosta. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Kyle and Brendan Salka, Charlie Foucault, Marissa Tiroletto, Marlena and Carson Tosta, David and Ryan Peterson, Timothy Kelly, and Sophie and Quinn Tosta. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Arianna Foucault, Olivia, Mia, and Maddie Tiroletto, and Evelyn Peterson.Busty had a personality you simply couldn't forget, and a smile that could light up a room. He loved to laugh and, more than anything, loved trying to make others laugh with his jokes. Of course, his jokes weren't always funny-but that never stopped him from telling them! He was a wonderful storyteller and always had a story to share, sometimes one we had heard before, but somehow, he made it worth hearing again. His playful spirit, quick wit, and love of laughter brought so much joy to his family and friends. Those who knew Busty will always remember his smile, his stories, his jokes, and the laughter that filled the room whenever he was around.A lifelong sports fan, Busty especially loved his Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed following the games and sharing his opinions, observations, and, of course, a few stories along the way.Busty worked at Standard Knapp for 37 years before retiring in 2000. He took pride in his work and in the life he built for his family. In addition to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, he leaves behind his sisters, Linda (Jay) Polke and Sandra (Tom) Ackert, and his brother, John Tosta, along with many extended family members and dear friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen Tosta, and his brother, Michael Tosta.Busty's greatest legacy is the family he loved so deeply and the countless people he made laugh along the way. His stories, his smile, his sense of humor, and the love he shared with those around him will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. The family invites loved ones and friends to gather for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sebastian's memory to the Red Sox Foundation at www.redsoxfoundation.org.He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.
