Obituary

Sebastiana "Anna" (Bartolotta) Gianni, 91, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at her home on October 31, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Vincenzo Gianni, Anna was lovingly cared for by her dedicated caretaker, Liz, over the past two and a half years and was comforted by compassionate in-home hospice care during her final months. Born on June 6, 1933, in Melilli, Sicily, she was the cherished daughter of the late Santo and Vincenza (Marino) Bartolotta.

Anna is survived by her loving sons, Vincent Gianni Jr. of Southington and David Gianni of Cromwell, along with her daughter-in-law, Lisa Gianni, and grandsons Nicholas and Michael. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Karen Gianni and grandson Zachary of Wading River, NY. Anna was predeceased by her beloved son, Thomas Gianni, and her precious granddaughter, Kristin Gianni, both of Wading River, NY.

Her surviving family includes her brother, Sebastiano Bartolotta, and his wife Nella; her sister Annette DiMauro and her late husband Salvatore; her brother Emanuel (Nello) Bartolotta and his wife Janet; her brother Salvatore Bartolotta; and her sister Angela (Bartolotta) Sharpe and her husband Thomas. Anna also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Elena Gianni, widow of her late brother-in-law Paolo Gianni, and her brother-in-law Giuseppe Gianni and sister-in-law Anna Gianni of Melilli, Sicily, along with numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Family meant everything to Anna. She was the heart of her family, ensuring they were always cared for, loved, and well-fed. A talented cook, Anna expressed her love through the meals she prepared and delighted in gathering her family around the table. Her work as a seamstress brought her joy and purpose, and she took pride in her roles at Carmela Coats, Kabachnick Clothing Store, Itkins Decorators and Kaman Aerospace, as well as her side work for private boutique designers. Anna was doing "gig work" long before it became a trend!

Anna's warm heart and strong spirit touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Elizabeth Acquah for the loving care and friendship she provided over the last two and a half years. They also wish to acknowledge the compassionate support of the Middlesex Health Hospice team.
