Vincenzo
Gianni
Aug 7, 1929 — Aug 6, 2023
Vincenzo Gianni, 93, of Middletown, husband of Sebastiana (Bartolotta), passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday evening, August 6th, 2023, just shy of his 94th birthday. Vincenzo was born on August 7, 1929, in Mellili, Sicily, to his parents Lucia (Fazzino) and Rosario Gianni.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Sebastiana (Anna), and his devoted sons, Vincent Gianni Jr. of Southington, and David Gianni, daughter-in-law Lisa Gianni, and grandsons Nicholas and Michael Gianni of Cromwell. He also leaves behind daughter-in-law Karen Gianni and grandson Zachary Gianni of Wading River, New York.
He was the proud father of his sons and a proud grandfather to all of his grandchildren. Sadly, he was predeceased by his beloved son, Thomas Gianni, and his beloved granddaughter, Kristin Gianni, both of Wading River, New York.
He is survived by his brother Giuseppe Gianni and sister-in-law Anna Gianni of Mellili, Sicily. Vincenzo loved being able to video talk to his brother and sister-in-law in Mellili and "see" each other on Easter Sunday this year. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Elena Gianni, the wife of his late brother, Paolo Gianni, and his brother-in-law, Salvatore Lagana, the husband of his late sister, Maria (Gianni) Lagana. He also leaves behind several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Family was the heart of Vincenzo's life, and he loved spending time with his family as often as possible. Vincenzo was proud of the work he did every day at EIS Automotive Group in Middletown, working side-by-side with many friends and extended family members. He truly enjoyed gardening, making wine, sauce, and the most delicious roasted peppers. After retiring, he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, teaching them all he knew about gardening, and watching them grow into caring adults.
Vincenzo was full of compassion and kindness and cared about everyone he met. He lived a full life and will truly be missed by his family and all who knew him.
The family would like to thank all the staff and nurses for the loving care our father received at Middlesex Health Care Center for the past two years. He made a lot of friends and brought a smile to everyone's face who took care of him. The family would also like to extend their deep appreciation to Dwayne Jenkins, Theresa Drake, and Gail Francis for their unwavering compassion in caring for our father while he remained at home.
Friends and family may pay their respects during calling hours on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Saint Sebastian's Church. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a burial service at Saint Sebastian's Cemetery directly after.
