Obituary

William Franklin "Kit" Carson III of Middletown passed away at the age of 74 on Friday, July 12, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born in Abington, PA on March 2nd, 1950 to William Carson Jr. and Bette (Haag) Carson and attended school at Germantown Academy in nearby Fort Washington, PA. A graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT, Kit served his country as a commissioned officer in the Guard from 1972-1977. It was during his time at the Academy that he met his future wife of 52 years, Carol (Rocchetti) Carson. Following his service in the Coast Guard, Kit worked as an Information Systems & Technology specialist for a number of companies in the manufacturing, chemical and general supply sectors. Throughout this time, education remained a driving passion in his life, and he found opportunities to teach through his service for adult education, religious education, and various after-school programs throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts. Later in life, he was able to make the transition to his dream job as a math teacher, working at Slade Middle School in New Britain, CREC Academy of the Arts in Hartford, and Eli Whitney Technical High School in Hamden. Kit was a loving husband, devoted father, and a trusted friend to many. He was quick to laugh, fond of debate, and a fan of the arts, especially cinema, poetry and music. Kit is survived by his wife Carol, his son William Franklin "Beau" Carson IV, his daughter-in-law Katrina (DiBiasio) Carson and his two grandchildren, William Franklin "Liam" Carson V and Evan Patrick Carson. In addition, he is survived by his siblings Rebecca McCaughey (Jim), Carol Bush (Bill), Molly Raimondi (John) and Edward Carson (Kristin). A memorial ceremony for family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Donate Life America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the cause of organ donation, in recognition of the lifesaving kidney transplant that gave Kit many more years to spend with his friends and family. Donations can be made at donatelife.net
