Obituary

MUNRO, WILLIAM CHARLES William Charles Munro, 80, of Durham, passed away on July 11 at Middlesex Hospital. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born April 11, 1934 in New Haven. He grew up and started a family there with his beloved late wife, Jean Elizabeth Baumgart Munro. After serving in the United States Army, he moved his family to Durham, in hopes to give them a better life. He worked his whole civilian career at Amtrak and retired from there in 1991. He loved to golf and watch baseball. He is survived by his seven children, Milly Salafia and her husband Tony of Higganum, William Munro Jr. of Durham, Michael Munro of Durham, Cindy Flannery and her husband Gerard of Middletown, Danny Munro and his wife Kelly of Durham, Carol Carmichael and her husband Donald of Durham, Bobby Munro and his wife Kim of Florida, his seven grandchildren and his one great-grandchild. He leaves behind a dear best friend, Honey Frazier of Durham. The wake will take place Wednesday July 16th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at D'Angelo's Funeral Home located at 22 S. Main St., Middletown. A Catholic mass will follow on July 17th at 10 a.m. at the Notre Dame Church of Durham located at 272 Main St. The burial will follow the mass. .
